Flexible Keyboards at SXSW
Check this out. From the video it looks like it’s one more way to get ever closer to manipulating that raw electronic tone in a meaningful and musical way. London tech start-up Roli are showing off their invention at the South By Southwest extravaganza in Austin, Texas.
The keys of the “Seaboard” are made from a flexible, soft material which allows players to manipulate each note separately in a way that hasn’t previously been possible.
Anything that allows us to really get intuitively in touch with the sound has got to be a good thing for electronic musicans and producers.
Rory Cellan-Jones went along to the company’s east London premises to try out the technology, with the company’s founder, Roland Lamb.
