Our Music Production & Sound Engineering Degree Students were back at it for another round of live orchestra recording. This time featuring a performance in the beautiful Konzertsaal of Berlin’s art university.
Unlike in a recording studio, when sound engineers are out in the field doing live gigs, they are quite limited in terms of modifying sound. There is no option for overdubs, nor editing, and little to no processing can be accomplished. Instead, they have to rely on the performers and the space to deliver the goods.
Our degree students, being supported by our trusty tech team, made the best of the acoustically beautiful space of the Konzertsaal at the Universität der Künste in Berlin. In order to give themselves options, they arrived with a well thought out and versatile microphone setup plan and adjusted it to make the most of the space.
Here are a few photos along with an excerpt of one of the pieces performed by the orchestra. Enjoy!
